Solar ShadingWe were shocked to see that designing proper external window shading for the Passive Project reduced the cooling demand by 77%. The cooling load was so small already, that we barely need any active air conditioning at all in the homes. Air SealingMost homes in the US leak like a sieve, but the Passiv Haus standard demands an air tight barrier that surrounds the entire building. Caulk and spray foam don’t cut it here.
