Thanks everyone. Vacation was great! It's only taken me a day and a half to refill my stress level to its pre-vacation levels, if not more... No worries though.

Hey Chad - if you want we can tie in a Delaware Valley Modernists get together with your kick-off party. Just let me know the date as early as possible and I'll put it out via the email list.

we had to skip our CA vacation this year.

my brother owns a restaurant downtown napa, bleaux magnolia. they got listed as best new restaurant in all of napa and sonoma counties for last year.

I love to hike at lime kiln near san lucia, the reward at the end of the trail is a beautiful water fall. I here pfeifer burns state park in big sur is similarly beautiful. if time is short you can always just stop of at nepenthe in big sur.... I wish I were going.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!
(...that being said, as a former resident of San Francisco (don't call it 'frisco', and don't call CA 'calli'; we used to consider those who did 'unwashed' ;)...))
1)Bring money. It hasn't gotten cheaper....
2)A close friend in Oakland recently noted that the temps have been running hot; however, evenings (and the afternoons, if the fog finds its' way inland) can run coolish; 'layering' (a sweater) can be a handy thing to keep at hand
3)Traffic about and through the greater Bay area can be absolutely hideous; give yourself extra time to get about (Friend in #2 noted in phone call that she seldom drives to 'The City' from Oakland anymore (takes BART), due to drive-time being up to 2 hours. "Spirited driving styles" will merely make the CHP overly interested in your intentions. Relax, and 'go with the flow", even if it ain't flowin' very well....
4)Don't fall in love with CA. We used to have a bumpersticker that said:
                          Welcome to California!
                              (NOW GO HOME)
It got ripped off repeatedly.....*L*
Prices for homes will astound you; The City is insanely crowded now (one reason we decided to leave...); it seemed to get dirtier by the year, probably due to the crowding.....

....and it Still has it's charms, in spite of all of the above.

You've been warned.
But you'll have fun....*S*
