Last month the team was interviewed by a relatively new media company from NYC, Flyp Media. They have an amazing site and are covering some pretty interesting content so we were honored to be included in this month’s online issue. They sent a videographer, photographer and journalist down to interview us and the result was just posted late last week and can now be found on their homepage as well.
You will need a fast connection and Flash support to view both the article and the embedded video interview. They did some cool things with our renderings as well, including a before and after view of the lots which is pretty snazzy. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Sorry if this issue has been discussed before, but do people have basements in this area of Philly? If they are allowed it might be a nice option to offer people. It’s certainly an energy efficient way to add living area. Any idea how much cost that would add? Superior Walls and Oasis Foundations both have prefab foundation walls that fit your philosophy.
Although it is not at all related to this post, basements will roughly run an extra $30K.
that’s a great feature with strong quotes from folks that underline this isn’t just another home, it’s a movement. right on.
Regarding Flyp Media – they did a great job! Very cool!
Chad I can not tell if you are joking in your response to Andy or just A total …
Probably just tired… I do like the Superior Walls and have looked into them before as they do fit our philosophy as Andy pointed out. One issue with them in infill lots is they do not work well if there is a house on either side. If you have a large open area to build multiple homes in a row then they work great.
One of the things we considered from the beginning was just having the first floor be below grade since we have to excavate anyways and basements are relatively low cost to build. It may find it’s way into a postgreen project in the future, but probably not one related to 100K.
Sorry if I was rude to Andy. He makes a good point and everyone does have basements in Philly. Slab on grade is not at all the norm here.
