Polish up your over-sized scissors and iron your best t-shirt/sports jacket combo because on March 31st at 10:30 a.m. we will be cutting the ribbon on the 100k House. After months of hard work and many, many more months of hard talking about it, our first two homes are nearing completion. To celebrate we are inviting you to join us for a little gathering to mark this important step in our pursuit of better houses for all.

We expect a handful of city luminaries and a few members of the press, but most importantly we expect you. Call in sick, sneak out for an early lunch or just bring everyone else from work. It’ll be a great opportunity to sip a bit of coffee and walk around the homes. It will also probably be a good opportunity to laugh at us for whatever poor excuse for a ribbon we end up fabricating out of construction waste and stuff from our closets.

I warn you, we have never done a ribbon cutting before, but after we review a few YouTube examples, we should be able to pull it together. Hopefully, we can at least avoid bloodshed (those scissors are sharp).

100k Ribbon Cutting

Date: March 31st
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Place: 2100 E. Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125 (map)

So, who’s coming? Let us know in the comments so we have an idea of how many to expect.

Wish I could be there. I thank you very much for the tour you gave me while I was in Philly on business a week ago. Kudos on the “simply” excellent LEED performance chart you created on the interior wall. I enjoyed our conversations immensely.

Congratulations on your effort and energy . . . and goal. Good luck.

With any endeavor as tough as this, I am there in spirit. I have spent almost 30 years around residential construction and seen the mess, the trash, and the after-effects left in the ground.

A very worthwhile effort on your part.

Well, that’s the benefit of being laid off recently, I’m available to be there. Hope you don’t mind a couple of kids – my wife has been following your blog for months and really wants to come too.
