Yeah I agree that the install is a bit expensive but considering that you get 50 years warranty for properly installed hardie, I guess that offsets the initial cost of installation.

Thanks for the comments guys. It has been a long time and it is nice to see the final product taking shape as intended. Next week, we should have some good images of the floors, kitchen walls and solar thermal, which were the main things focused on this week.

tlynch – This was the architects choice to reduce budget. While the Hardie siding is a relatively cheap material, the install is very expensive. We never could have afforded to wrap the entire homes in stucco. We wanted to get a bit of Hardie on the back of 100K, but just didn’t have the budget… Stucco will most likely be the material of choice for the rear facade of every one of our homes.

What was the reasoning for using stucco on the rear of the house and Hardie siding everywhere else?
