We Survived 2009

2009 does not seem like it will be looked back upon with any great fondness by the vast majority of people. It was, for most, a difficult year full of economic travails, environmental fears and existential doubts (or was that just me?). The closing year of the decade (are we seriously calling it the Noughties?) has been a bit of an anticlimax to the promise of the new millennium, but we survived it. We made it through and now we are stronger. Perhaps a trifle tired and annoyed but definitely stronger.

Now many people are prone to recaps at the end of a decade, but frankly I think that is why we have a blog archive. Why else have we been writing all these posts if not to avoid the forced regurgitation of all of our lessons, failures and accomplishments? If you want to know what we have been up to for the past year, scroll through the archive and, of course, stay tuned because we are far from finished writing about 2009.

Instead of a recap, I have decided to go with a bit of a status update. I will divide it into two simple parts. First, the homes:

So far, Postgreen has built 4 homes. Each is now occupied by happy and surprisingly friendly owners. We are currently preparing to break ground on the next three (the Skinny Project), one of which is already sold. In all, we have 17+ homes slated for 2010 and you will be hearing about them all right here.

Which leads us to the second part. The blog:

This blog has been around since October of 2007 and we have been fortunate enough to attract an amazing group of readers and, more importantly, commentors. This post will be our 332nd since we started and on those posts we have had 2,489 approved comments. These comments have started conversations that have effected our philosophy and our business itself. We want to thank all of you who have taken the time to share your thoughts with us and we hope you will continue to do so in 2010.

Right now the blog has 1,125 subscribers to the RSS and email feeds. We would love to see that number continue to grow. If you know someone who might dig what we are doing, be sure to pass us on.

So that is our end of 2009 status update. I know it isn’t incredibly informative or detailed but what can I say, I plan on taking it easy today. If you have any questions or thoughts, put them in the comments. Thank you all for helping us through 2009 and we’ll talk again next year.

If you enjoyed reading this post I can promise you'll love our new writing over at Postgreen Homes. Yeah, we know that's the same thing your favorite band said and their new album is nowhere near as good as their early stuff, but seriously, we are actually still getting better.

There also isn't much conversation to be had here . . . at least not with us. So come on over to the Postgreen Homes Blog and tell us what you think of our new(ish) digs and crazy ideas. We will be sure to tell you what we think of your opinion.
