New Postgreen Homes Model – Avant Garage

August 25, 2010

It has a kind of cheesy name, but that doesn’t make the concept any less cool. Postgreen Home’s has introduced a new model built around an existing zoning plan that called for garages. Working with ISA, we came up with some concepts for a model that incorporates the garage and creates an exciting split level [...]

Where We Sleep: The Master Bedroom Question

July 22, 2010

I have been thinking a lot about bedrooms recently. It could be because I have a little girl who keeps me from spending a whole lot of time in what I call my bedroom (a corner of our living room). Or, it could be because we are soon to be building a home with a [...]

Two Point Five – The Next Postgreen Homes Model

May 26, 2010

We are about to release our newest Postgreen Homes model and felt that we should throw it up here for some discussion first. Up until now we have limited ourselves to two story buildings. We have hung well below the height limits set by zoning and tried to perfect that old school Philly staple of [...]

Postgreen Homes Concept: Three Bedrooms in 16 Feet?

February 10, 2010

Our current line of houses covers a significant portion of those looking for a new urban house, but we have gotten a little bit of a hard time from those who have a couple of kids and still want one of our homes. This has been particularly the case for those who have a girl [...]

Duplex Inspiration – Japanese 9 Tsubo House

January 23, 2010

Recently, we were approached by someone to design and build a small duplex on a tight infill house in Philadelphia. Without getting into too much detail, the lot is roughly 27′ wide by 20′ deep. Tight constraints to say the least. This footprint reminded us of one of our favorite Japanese small house designs – [...]

Whiteboard Session: SKINNY Floor Plan Options

January 8, 2010

For better or worse we are bringing back the video here at Postgreen. We have a new intro (designed by my brother Gabe Darling) and very, very, mildly improved lighting. This first effort in our return is a quick explanation of the options soon to be available in the SKINNY model floor plan. It isn’t [...]

New Skinny House Floor Plans

January 4, 2010

In anticipation of our Skinny Project groundbreaking this month we have finalized the floor plans for our newly introduced model . . . the (aptly named) SKINNY. This sleek, simple beauty is designed for lots under 16 feet wide (a common Philadelphia condition), and represents our most efficient interior plan to date. Oddly, it also [...]

Postgreen Homes – Facades and Floor Plans

April 8, 2009

The 100k house and its neighbor, the somewhat erroneously named 120k, are moving briskly toward the finish line. The build, while a definite success, has been an education for everyone involved. We have learned dozens of valuable lessons about almost every aspect of our buildings, lessons we will soon be sharing with all of you, [...]

M&M 100K Plus Floorplan Draft

July 3, 2008

…So we are going to call this project the “M&M 100K Plus House” for lack of a better name. The ‘M&M’ represents the client (no they’re not bite sized chocolate candies and if we can get a cease and desist letter from Hershey’s it would be great for the portfolio) and the ’100K Plus’ is intended to indicate that this is an upgraded version of the 100K House.

Enough of my rambling. Here is our first stab at the floorplan for the house:

New Renderings and Floorplans for 100K Project

June 27, 2008

ISA has been working on some new renderings for the 100K project due to some contests and articles we are working on. The first image below of the 100K rendering plopped onto the actual site is probably my favorite image generated to date. Definitely follow the link to the full-size flickr image on this one. [...]
